A bored evening on the sofa with eBay on my phone saw me gather a few new minifigures. Mr Lizard, Mr Chicken, Mr Gorilla and Mr Rabbit. I have plans for them all!

Taxi for LEGOland

A work mate went to New York on business. I asked him to try and find something cool, LEGO and American. He brought back this really dinky NY Cab. Its a Rockefeller LEGO shop exclusive.

Lunar buggy

Another Classic Space vehicle from my old stash. This time its the buggy, simple and effective. I had enough bits to build fleets of these and bomb around the lunar landscape!

Somebody has clearly upset the LEGO Mafia. He's off to sleep with the fishies!

Boys at play!

I was sent a link to a picture of Han and Chewy playing with some microscale Star Wars toys. This is my take on it!

Pick-a-brick men

This is the result of me and Lily randomly grabbing bits out of a box at LEGO Mania to build some minifigures. Mine is the desert captain zombie pirate with a sextant!

Crater crawler

After a week of my highlights from LEGO Mania its back to some old favourites in the Classic Space range. This time the Crater Crawler. A two for one kit. Trundle along in the buggy, but when the going gets tough, take off in the hopper!

LEGO Mania - Space Shuttle

Another scaled up kit, this time the Space Shuttle. Complete with booster rockets and the main tank. It stood around 4ft tall. And was probably minifigure scaled now!

LEGO Mania - Cement truck

Probably my favourite build of the event. This is a scaled up version of the City cement truck kit. perfect in every detail, just on a vast scale. The minifigure that went with it was two foot tall!

LEGO Mania - Westminster Abbey

Another large scale build from LEGO Mania. This model of Westminster Abbey was open on one side to allow you to see inside. From stain glass windows to gargoyles it was so detailed. The congregation inside was vast.

LEGO Mania - Thornycroft truck

We went to Milestones in Basingstoke today, like last year they were hosting a huge LEGO event, spread over almost two months it uses the backdrop of 1800s and 1930s Basingstoke and puts various LEGO models in place. One of the stars was this 4m long Thornycroft lorry. The details were amazing from the steering wheel and handbrake, the load on the flat bed

Getting technical

In the bottom of my old box of LEGO was this unusual contraption. Built probably 15-20 years ago this four wheel steer chassis was a prototype for a future project that never happened.

Down on his luck, the dishevelled LEGO chap sort solace in the bottom of the bottle found in the skip.

Blast off

With the command module safely stowed in the transport chassis. The intrepid pilot takes off in the lunar pod for a scout round. I love this set, Classic Space 6892 from 1986. It was a Christmas present and provided hours of entertainment. You could drive it round the lounge, deposit the command centre section and scoot off to find the best place to fly the pod from.

LEGO repairs

There is a craze for fashioning repairs to broken brickwork with LEGO. I decided as one of our patio slabs is cracked to try the same treatment. Worked out ok!
